These are the remains of a social hall where the officers and their families would gather for activities on the island.

An old outlet in the New Industries building. We learned that the prisoners of Alcatraz would do laundry for the local military installations, with water shipped in from the mainland.

Something we didn't know about Alcatraz was that there was an Indian occupation of the island in 1969 to protest the termination of Indian lands by the federal government.
